Entanglement 101

(Published on 18. September 2026, 22:14 by TheTastyPi)

"...So, to put my words into reality, let's bring up an example. As you can see, we have two grids, and nothing between them, but whenever we see a line turned on, the other is off! How strange is that?" - Excerpt from Entanglement 101, Lecture 1, presented by Dr. Tays T. Py

Rules

Entangled Sudoku - There are two sudoku grids. For each grid, place the digits 1-4 in each row, column and box such that no digits repeat. Two digits in the same position, but on different grids may not be the same.

Entangled Clues - Each clue fully contained in a grid has a copy on the other grid. For each of these pairs, exactly one of the two is 'real' and applies to the digits in that grid, whereas the other is 'fake' and applies no restrictions (as if it doesn't exist,) to be determined by the solver. For the purpose of this rule, the lower left double thermometer is considered a single clue.

Thermometers - Starting from the bulb end of a grey thermometer, digits strictly increase along the line.

White Kropki Dots - Digits separated by a white dot have a difference of exactly 1.

Palindrome Lines - Digits on a blue line form a palindrome, meaning it reads the same forward and backward.

Skyscrapers - For each grid, a skyscraper digit outside the grid indicates the number of digits in its adjacent row that can be 'seen' from the skyscraper digit, where higher digits 'blocks' lower digits. For example, in the sequence 1,2,4,3, only 1,2, and 4 can be seen, as 3 is blocked by 4.

Solution code: Row 3 of both grids, concatenated, from left to right.

This puzzle is probably on the higher end of 2-3*? Some intermediate logic required but the size of the grids doesn't make it too high ;)

Pi: Possibly! When I got feedback on this puzzle, I got an estimate of 2.5 star. I decided to round it down for LMD due to the size, but maybe the logic bumps it over.
