What a fun puzzle! It took me a hot minute for it to click but once it did it was smooth as butter. I also came from James Sinclair's newsletter ^^

Regarding the surge in solves: this puzzle was mentioned in James Sinclair's Artisanal Sudoku this week.

Most welcome ! Glad you liked it.

Also may I ask how you were recommended that puzzle ? It seems to have had a big surge in solves very recently but I didn't see it featured anywhere.

Can someone please explain the rules? An example for the killer cage sum rule would be really helpful.

--
Sure. Let's consider the top left cage for example. Let's say the digits in the cage are 1,2,3,4,5,7 and 9, summing to 31. Then the number 31 must appear at the beginning of the first row of the cage, which in this case is r1c1 and r1c2 ; so those two cells must be 3 and 1 respectively.

Thank you, understood!

Super fun, and easier than I expected. I ended up with a 2* time (22 mins), but also know that I have learned some tricks from puzzles of this style that saved me lots of time. Thanks for the puzzle!

Very nice but i found it hard - 55 minutes. I do however struggle with this type of killer sudoku so it might just be me.
