Negative Space

(Published on 9. September 2026, 22:15 by Tessarin)

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Draw a one-cell-wide loop of orthogonally connected cells. The loop may not touch itself, not even diagonally.

The loop acts as a German Whispers line (i.e., adjacent digits on the loop must have a difference of at least 5).

Digits along each arrow sum to the digit in its circle.

Each circle is on the loop. Its digit counts the cells in the same 3×3 box as the circle that are not on the loop.

Solution code: Digits on the loop in row 4 (left to right) followed by digits on the loop in column 6 (top to bottom)

This was a lot of fun, but I found much more difficult than 2* (and I had to use uniqueness at one point, so I'm sure there was a better path)

the last rule could use a little clarification, I originally took it to mean the 3x3 box centered on the circle, not the 3x3 box the circle lives in.

Tessarin: Thanks for pointing that out, I've reworded it.
