MOD 3 SQUAD

(Published on 5. September 2026, 00:09 by Will Power)

Normal Sudoku rules apply. DUTCH WHISPER- Numbers on the red line are at least 4 apart from their neighbors on the line. MOD 3 LINES- Numbers on teal lines have the same remainder as one another when divided by 3. ie: lines can consist of the numbers 1,4,7 or 2,5,8 or 3,6,9. EXCEPT CELLS ON THE RED LINE, ALL POSSIBLE ORTHOGONAL MOD 3 LINES ARE SHOWN. KROPKI PAIRS- Numbers with a white dot between them are consecutive. Numbers with a black dot between them are in a ratio of 2:1. Not all possible dots are shown.

The opposite to most comments so far, I forgot the Dutch Whisper rule and interestingly it *almost* solves without it and was quite fun - I got all the colouring, placed all but two of 5 7 9s, and ended up only with unsolvable pairs of 36s, 14s, and 28s.

Entertaining and very doable.

Very approachable and very fun. Always enjoy a reason to color!

Yeah, didn't get the negative constraint either. Otherwise pretty fun but quite easy.

I didn't use the rule "EXCEPT CELLS ON THE RED LINE, ALL POSSIBLE ORTHOGONAL MOD 3 LINES ARE SHOWN" at all. Was it necessary to solve the puzzle?

IDK if I made a mistake but I forgot all about the negative constraint and it solved smoothly.

I initially misunderstood the negative constraint and thought that unless both cells were on the red line, all mod3 lines were shown. So I thought I had broken the puzzle for a bit, but when I read the rules more carefully it was a nice and easy solve :)

Actually an easy puzzle once you realise these mod lines are the opposite of regular mod lines XD

I had to learn the hard way that you have to read the rules (especially the MOD ones) properly. After that, it was actually very easy and relaxing.

Easy and Approachable. Fun overall

Coloring & negative constraints? Sign me up.

Terrific puzzle. I was scratching my head quite a while before I finally remembered the red line meant something beyond “you can’t see teal lines here”, after which it was quick to finish.
