RULES :
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
**Set of rules 1**
Orange diamonds are fire spawner. The fire spreads from them orthogonaly only (no diagonals) and cannot take turns. The fire can only be stopped by a pair of "agents" (always the two same digits) when they are next to each other (orthogonaly only). Then they create a barrier and stop the fire. If an agent is not next to its pair it is ineffective and fire can go through. The fire should not reach the books (brown rectangles). Also, the sum of the agents pair equals the digit covered by the books (always the same digit). Agents cannot be placed on fire spawners.
**Set of rules 2**
Killer Cages : Digits in cages must sum to the number in the top-left corner and cannot repeat. Also, "agents" cannot be placed inside a killer cage.
Thermometers : Numbers on a thermometer strictly increase as they move away from the bulb.

as a FIRST puzzle, this is brilliant. otherwise, we would only rate it great, lol.
to potential solvers:
the rules look pretty complicated, but they aren't. the setup phase is quite easy, and the number phase is very easy, so if you want to have some fun with a completely unique ruleset, this is for you.
historical note:
in the NOVEL, they just pour a bunch of gas on the stuff they want to burn, and chuck in a match . in the MOVIE, they use actual flamethrowers.

Great first construction! On my first attempt I overcomplicated things and didn't get very far, but once you find the right approach, it becomes very manageable. Thanks for sharing!

(Trimming comment as now understand the rules - I now think of the spawners as flame throwers spraying fire in a straight line)
