For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a unique Sudoku variant every week.
Overlapping Matryoshka
Inspiration for this type comes from timotab. Solve online in Sudokupad.
I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Clues outside the grid indicate a sandwich where the two crust digits sum to the clue and so do the digits that are sandwiched between the crust digits.
Sandwiches appear in the grid in the same order as the clues outside the grid.
Solution code: Column 9

It helps to read also the instructions to the linked puzzle to understand all edge cases. Thanks for the great fun puzzle!

Thank you very much for creating and sharing another wonderful SVS-puzzle. Midsolve was very tricky (for me), I gave 3.5*.

How important is the rule that sandwiches appear in the same order as the clues, because, I don't see why in your example 17 is listed before 6? They both seem like they're in the middle of the row?

Reply: the sandwich 9 starts in C1, the sandwich 17 starts in C2 and the sandwich 6 starts in C4. So that is relevant for the placement of the sandwiches I think.
