Slithering Heights

(Published on 21. August 2026, 12:30 by marty_sears)

    Rules:

    Normal sudoku rules apply.

Draw a loop that travels along cell edges, and does not touch itself.

Every cell is surrounded by eight dots. The digit in a gold circle indicates how many of its cell's dots are visited by the loop.

If two digits are joined by a black dot, one is double the other.

Solution code: Digits inside the loop in column 8, reading downwards

Brilliant idea and perfectly executed. First, I made a loop error in mid-solve but the rest of the puzzle didn‘t break. Only the loop was different. Thanks Marty for spotting my error. My second attempt after the error solved even smoother. I like this puzzle (and the ruleset) a lot. Thanks.

Super good puzzle that one. Nice work!

This was so much fun! I wish there had been a way to keep track of which dots could and could not be crossed since the app doesn't allow for Xs at corners, but I managed with minimal mistakes lol

Thank you for yet another wonderful puzzle!
I couldn't help imagining, maybe, a lab rat navigating around the grid. Perhaps an idea for a puzzle series? And the black dots could be blackcurrants for her to eat...

Marty: I don't know where you think up these crazy ideas ;)

That's a wonderful new ruleset, I hope we see it more often!
Lovely puzzle. Fairly tricky; a high 3 stars for me.

Again, thank you very much for creating and sharing another extremely original puzzle. Indeed there were a few other attempts in the past combining Slitherlink with Sudoku, but I think they used only the normal 0 to 3 clues.

Interesting rules, problem solving process is very smooth and natural.

Easy to make mistakes if you lose track of "closed" paths. Marking points either on or off the path is likely easier if you print this on paper.

Lovely puzzle. It’s amazing how the gold circles and a few black dots are sufficient for drawing the entire loop and filling in the digits.
