Working in Tandem

(Published on 12. August 2026, 10:35 by PrissyP)

Rules

Both grids have the same solution. Solve the clues on both grids together and enter the resulting solution into both grids.

Sudoku:

Normal Sudoku rules apply: each row, column, and 3×3 box must contain the digits 1–9 exactly once.

Kropki:

Digits separated by a black dot must have a 2:1 ratio.

Digits separated by a white dot must be consecutive.

Not all possible dots are necessarily shown.

Blue Cages (Left Grid):

Digits within a blue cage cannot repeat and must sum to the number shown in the upper-left corner of the cage.

Red Look-and-Say Cages (Right Grid):

Read the digits in each red cage in pairs. In each pair, the first digit tells you how many times the second digit appears in the cage.

For example, a 23 clue means that the digit 3 appears twice in that cage.

This gimmick feels completely pointless. You could just put both sets of clues on the same grid for a much nicer player experience.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I definitely would have preferred to have a little more interaction between the two grids. That is also why I set another Puzzle with two grids that interact "Butterfly Effect". On that one I was more successful, but I still wanted to share this because in a few cases I like the interaction between the Look and Say and the other cages in this puzzle.

Great concept! I really enjoyed it. The only constructive comment I would have is that the right grid stopped being productive a bit early. Still giving it a 5-star rating, though!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I absolutely understand the criticism, I would prefer more interaction as well.
