Yggdrasil (Circled X-Sums)

(Published on 6. August 2026, 17:00 by Crusader175)

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Circled X-Sums: Circle one cell in each row, column, and box. Digits may not repeat on circled cells. Clues outside the grid indicate the sum of the first X digits in the corresponding direction, where X is the digit placed in the circled cell in that row or column.

Hard but very clever set 4* to me. Every step a quest for itself. Huge fun thx.

I am SO used to regular X-Sum thinking that I had to restart it twice because I kept hitting dead ends. Once I wrapped my head around the implications, it was smooth sailing. Very enjoyable and challenging!

Pretty tricky but very fun to work out what the constraints mean. Thought I got completely stuck in the endgame but that’s what happens when you make an arithmetic mistake in a puzzle with sum constraints. Once I found that error it was smooth.

Brilliant concept and execution!

Would agree with Flinty. The solve was extremely smooth. Once I wrapped my head around the mechanics, it was just following one clue after the other. 3.5*/100%
