Stay Cool!

(Published on 28. July 2026, 04:00 by The Pi Guy)

A puzzle set during my first time taking part in a speed setting competition. The theme was ‘3D’, so naturally I came up with an ice cube! ;) Enjoy!

Sudoku: Put the digits 1 to 9 once each into every row, column & 3 by 3 box.

Region sum lines: Each blue line (normal) is split into sections by the 3 by 3 boxes. The sections on each individual line must have the same sum.

Ten lines: Each grey line (hollow) must either contain digits adding to 10 or divide into sections that contain digits adding to 10.

Puzzle link (SudokuPad)

Solution code: The digits in the 3 by 3 area with centre row 7 column 4, read left to right.

Wow, I definitely wasn’t expecting anyone to have an issue with the solution code! I thought it was a simple but fun twist. Glad you liked the rest though.

Huzzah! I actually quite liked the ending and thought the way the 10 lines interacted with region sum lines was quite good.

My only gripe is the solution code, I don't think you need to do that. Just one row or column is fine, thanks.

Im not sure if there was a correct way of doing the ending. I basically had to bifurcate to find the last 7-8 digits.

Edit: The Pi Guy here. Nope no bifurcating involved. The last step was intended and isn’t really difficult, you just have to have the right thought (I’d highly recommend going back to that point and seeing if you can spot it).
