Confused Killers

(Published on 16. July 2026, 17:28 by ul-Rhymm)

Place each digit, 1-9, exactly once in each row, column, and 3x3 region.

Each cage is governed by either addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. Cages governed by the same operation cannot touch orthogonally. In cages, the number in the top left corner is a sum, difference, product or quotient of the two numbers in the cage, according to that cage’s operation.

Very nice and smooth!

@Ipit: The solution has no ambiguity. (Every cell with a 1 that could be multiplication or division is adjacent to a cell that must be either multiplication or division.)

Fun rule set, flowed really nice for me

The puzzle is interesting, but I think there is a slight ambiguity in the rules. When one of the numbers in a cage is 1, it is not possible to tell whether the intended operation is multiplication or division. Consequently, it is also unclear whether two such cages may be adjacent. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Lovely idea!! Feels like it has lots of potential for more constructions!
