Underground:
- Draw in the dotted grid a single connected network of lines going through the centers of some orthogonally adjacent cells, which may branch or turn, but may not have any dead ends.
- Cells above and to the left of the grid have a value that indicates how many times a given tile (i.e. a blank, cross, branch, straight line, or turn), including its rotations, will appear in that row or column.
-
Full Quad-Rank:
- All the 2x2 areas of the clue space, when read in western reading order, make a total of 40 four-digit numbers. (May have leading zeroes.)
- Clues in the center of a 2x2 area show its rank among those 40 numbers, where the lowest is 01 and the highest is 40.
- One or more equal numbers are considered to be at rank N when there are N-1 numbers of strictly lower rank. (For example, we say there are three numbers in rank 20 when there are 19 numbers of lower rank and the next rank will be 23, i.e. the ranks could go ⋯, 19, 20, 20, 20, 23, ⋯)
