Greater Ring

(Published on 8. July 2026, 16:31 by Azvaril)

Hello. The idea for this puzzle came to me yesterday as I was going to bed. Today, while working, I played around with the constraints a bit and was happy with the result.

Have a good time solving!

Solve on SudokuPad

Normal Sudoku rules apply. The digits 1 to 9 must be placed in each row, column and 3x3 box without repetition.

Greater than: The digit on the open side of the ">" sign must be larger than the digit on the pointed side.

Thermometer: Digits along a thermometer must increase from the bulb.

Just to confirm: the ">" sign may look different, but it works the same :-)

Solution code: Row 5, 9 digits left to right.

Break-in isn't so bad but this becomes a tough nut to crack half way through.

The amount of fun deductions in this puzzle is much higher than you'd think for it's simplicity.

Really enjoyable puzzle! Not too difficult but still challenging enough, with a very nice flow. My mind is blown on how you can create such a sudoko while working, haha.. Kudos!

Maybe me and my girlfriend missed something, but for us this was def not a 2*. closer to a 4* than a 2* if anything.
I think the types of deductions we needed to make would maybe fit into a 2* puzzle if the puzzle was very clear on where you needed to look, but given that the entire border of the puzzle is identical in terms of grid furniture, I think it takes a lot more careful searching than a typical 2* or even 2-3* puzzle.
