Couplets
(Published on 28. June 2026, 01:50 by The Pi Guy)
Welcome solvers to this test, for which I wish you all the best.
Normal sudoku rules apply (no tricks from this sudoku guy) so digits 1 to 9 must go in every column, box and row exactly once (just in case you needed a reminder or two).
The grid contains 3 types of line which I will now seek to define.
German whispers lines are green, as many of you will have seen. The digits on a green line may not be closer than 5 away in value (such as 4 & 9) from any neighbours on the line.
Renban lines are purplish-pink (or pinkish-purple you might think). The digits on these lines must give a sequence that’s consecutive (that is, it must continue through like 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2) with no repeats and to be clear, the order does not matter here (so 4, 5, 1, 3, 2 is fine as 1 to 5 are on the line).
Region sum lines (coloured blue). In every box a line goes through, the digits on the line need to add to the exact same value. So look at each line separately and make the sections equal. See?
And just to clarify some more (for those who aren’t entirely sure)
whispers are normal, renbans hollow, sum lines dashed (I hope you follow).
That’s all the rules. Hope you have fun trying to get the puzzle done. :)

I have no idea what that means, haha. But I’d definitely call it approachable. ;)

Sorry about the solution code issue. I was trying something a bit different but clearly it didn’t work. I’ll sort it.

fun solve! ridiculous solution code.

Nice puzzle. The solution code spoiled the experience a bit. I can't see the justification.
