Tropical Snack

(Published on 1. June 2026, 20:23 by brainteaserartisan)

After a break of nearly 15 months, I decided to finally publish another puzzle, although this one was conceived several months ago, and I kept tweaking it until I was satisfied with the intended solve path.

Enjoy!

Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Every 2x2 in the grid must contain at least one digit from each of the sets [1,2,3], [4,5,6], and [7,8,9].
  • Digits separated by an X must sum to 10, and digits separated by a V must sum to 5. Not all Xs or Vs are necessarily given.
  • Digits along the thermometer must strictly increase from the bulb end.
  • Digits along the arrow must sum to the digit in the attached circle.
  • Pink renban lines must contain a set of consecutive, non-repeating digits in any order.
  • Along green German whisper lines, adjacent digits must differ by at least 5.
  • Along the red parity line, digits must alternate between odd and even.
Solve the puzzle here.

Comments are welcome, but please be kind.

Great puzzle! I got stuck for like 20mins at the end until I read the comments and realized I'd accidentally deleted an important pencil mark on the parity line, but that's on me so I'd still call it 2*

Great puzzle! Got stuck for a bit near the end but reviewing all my pencil marks properly worked the trick, as well as a bit of colouring to help me out. Thanks!

I made this way harder for myself by not realizing the thermo was strictly increasing until I got stuck at the end with 2/3s … great puzzle!

IMHO, this is a great puzzle! And yes, there is a unique solution. If one's solution is not unique, I recommend double-checking the parity line combined with the 2x2. Hope this doesn't spoil anything, otherwise please delete or hide this comment.

I really liked this one, thanks a lot!

I don't understand the downvoting on this one. The solution is perfectly unique thanks to the parity line and no long bifurcation schemes are necessary. Great puzzle!

I think I'm getting a non unique solution

Very fun puzzle, I really liked the use of the parity line.

Very nice! I had to delete all my colouring so I could shade some of the pairs to do the last step.
