Divisores Dubitationis

(Published on 27. May 2026, 13:54 by Dr Logic)

Preamble

On Thursday 28th May 2026, I am sitting my final exam on GR and will thus have completed my undergraduate degree in Mathematics! I have been working on this puzzle on and off for a long time, and it is finally done, I hope you enjoy solving this as much as I enjoyed setting it!

Let me know what you thought of it in the comments!

A colourblind friendly grid has also been provided with each line labelled ('G' for green, 'P' for purple and 'Pa' for parity.)

The title is in Latin and roughly translates to 'Divisors of doubt'

A solution guide can be found here (containing spoilers): Solution Guide

    Happy solving!

Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Digits along a green or purple ’divisor’ line must satisfy the following: ’The line is read from one end. Each digit placed must wholly divide the sum of all the previous digits on the line.’ (For example, 3-1-4 is valid as 1 divides 3 and 4 divides 3+1, but 3-1-8 is invalid, as 8 does not divide 3+1)
  • Digits cannot repeat on green lines, but may repeat on purple lines, if allowed by other rules.
  • Adjacent digits on a red ’parity’ line must alternate in parity (odd/even).
  • Cells separated by a black dot have a 1:2 ratio, cells separated by a white dot are consecutive. Not all such dots are given.

If you liked this puzzle I am sure you would LOVE another puzzle by me! The puzzle below is a 2 star puzzle inspired by important theories in Complex Analysis. While the rules look daunting, nothing is too difficult. Enjoy!
