Balanced X-Sums

The Rules:

  1. [Sudoku] Normal sudoku rules apply -- fill every row, column, and region with the digits from 1 to 9 once each.
  2. [Balanced X-Sums] Each arrow indicates that the sum of the odd digits must equal the sum of the even digits in the first x cells seen in the direction of the arrow where x is the digit in the cell next to the clue.

That felt absolutely impossible at first, and I'm still a little bit surprised it wasn't. Once you get going, though, the flow is just stunning. Fabulous setting!

Thank you very much for creating and sharing another fantastic puzzle. I think I saw these balanced sums recently on CtC, but this implementation as X-Sums is gorgeous!
