This puzzle was inspired by conversations with XeonRisq (who also gave helpful feedback during its construction).

CHAOS CONSTRUCTION - Divide the grid into orthogonally connected regions and place the digits 1-8 once each in every row, column, and region.
WALL ARROWS - A digit on an arrow indicates the number of region boundaries in the indicated direction (including the grid edge). Each arrow is an independent clue.
