Experimental Puzzle 3/6: XV Sums

(Published on 18. May 2026, 20:40 by Sudokujoker)

This is the third puzzle in a short series of experimental puzzles. The first five puzzles in the series each explore one constraint in a 6x6 puzzle, and the sixth puzzle combines all five constraints in a full-size sudoku.

Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply: place the digits 1-6 in each row, column and 2x3 box. Dynamic fog: the grid is covered in fog. Correctly entering a digit will clear the fog in that cell and may clear the fog in other cells too. XV: Digits connected by an X sum to 10 and digits connected by a V sum to 5. All possible XV markings are given.

*Hint below*
The intended solution path doesn't require bifurcation, but does rely on the negative constraint to make a particular deduction about one-third of the way through the solve.
Thanks, SJ :)

I got hung up on the double X and had to bifurcate my way to the solution.

One mildly tricky step but no bifurcation in my solve

This one I had to brute-force with bifurcation
