Out Of Bounds

(Published on 8. May 2026, 11:00 by sujoyku)

This puzzle is a late birthday gift for my friend ChinStrap. He kindly allowed me to share it with all of you. I am thanking MantaRay, Calvinball and NEWS for testing and wish you joyful solving!

Rules:

- Normal sudoku rules apply, i.e. each row, column, and 3x3 region has to contain the digits from 1 to 9 once each.

- Index Lines: Each turquoise line is an Index Line, i.e. the number in the Nth cell along such a line (starting from the diamond) indicates the position along the line where the number N appears. For example, if a diamond cell contains a 3, the third cell along that line must have a 1.

- Up to N-sums: Numbers outside of the grid are Up to N-clues. An Up to N-clue outside the Row or Column N indicates the sum of all digits up to the cell that contains the digit N. (The digit N itself is not included in the sum.)

I don't get how index lines work for lines with length 10.
Shouldn't the number on the end of that line indicate where the "10" goes? How does that work?

**
You are exactly right, elpadrinoIV, the number in the 10th position indicates where 10 appears on such a line. That is also why the rules refer to "numbers" instead of "digits". As a small hint: 10s might seem out of bounds, but can appear on the line in this one. If you like to get a more direct nudge, let me know.
Kind regards, sujoyku

After an hour and only one digit, I'll have to call this one out of my league and hope someone on YouTube demonstrates it.

Hey Big Tiger, thank you for giving my puzzle a go! Do you like to get a hint towards the break-in?
Kind regards, sujoyku
