Gray circles in gray fog

(Published on 6. May 2026, 20:13 by Lithium-Ion)

This puzzle has been my twelth feature on Cracking the Cryptic (click here to see Mark solving it). The main idea of this fog-of-war puzzle is the usage of gray circles which are either black or white Kropki dots. Feedback is always greatly appreciated! The rules are as follows:

Normal Sudoku rules apply. Placing correct digits may reveal fog somewhere in the grid. Cells that are a knight's move (in chess) apart, are not allowed to contain identical digits. Cells connected with a gray circle have to contain digits that are consecutive or in a 1:2 ratio (or both). Box borders divide blue lines into segments with the same sum. Different blue lines can have different sums.

Solution code: The digits in row 9, read from left to right.

Exellent puzzle. Tricky but satisfying knights-move logic towards the end. Thanks!

Second half of this puzzle was harder than I expected but still very well done!

Very doable for me for a 2*. I give up half of the time. Did take me 32+ minutes.

Nice! The anti-knight rule added a few bits of uncommon logic to the kropki stuff :D
