Shukri the Snake 4: The Foggy Orchard, by pmays123

It's a foggy day at the orchard, but luckily Shukri has an excellent sense of smell!

Normal 9x9 sudoku rules apply.

Placing a correct digit in the fog will clear the fog from that cell and may clear the fog from other cells. No guessing is necessary.

Draw two paths each beginning and ending in r5c9 (Shukri's current cell) by travelling orthogonally through the centers of cells such that:

  • No path branches or intersects itself, but may intersect or overlap the other path.
  • One path collects all and only red apples.
  • One path collects all and only green apples.
  • The digits in cells with apples are the order the apples are collected on their respective path. All apples are given.
  • One path goes straight through even digits and turns 90 degrees (in either direction) through odd digits while the other path goes straight through odd digits and turns 90 degrees (in either direction) through even digits.

Example:

Example marking in Sudokupad:

Digits in cells containing a purple snake's body sum to the digit in the cell with that snake's head (marked by two eyes and a tongue). Digits may repeat on a snake. No two purple snakes share the same cell.

Example:

*I've also provided a link to the sudokumaker site below for an extra grid with only apples given if you'd like to draw the paths there with more clarity and/or freedom.

If you enjoy minimal setting, visual symmetry, and the knight's move constraint, you'll probably love my previously uploaded puzzle:

This is Shukri's hardest challenge yet, but I know you can do it! Let me know if you encounter any issues. Good luck, and I hope you have a sssssuper day! :)

Solution code: The digits on the green apple path from (and including) the sixth apple collected to the seventh apple collected. If the red path also passes through the digit's cell, enter the digit twice in the solution code before entering the next digit on the path.

Woahhhhh, I loved this and I don’t comment often! Would agree with your comment as this took me so long but when I found the expected deduction it was great

I set the estimated difficulty to 4 stars, but none of the deductions themselves (in my opinion) are near 4 star difficulty. There just happens to be a lot of them. Take care
