Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Additionally, cells may not share a digit with cells that are a distance of exactly two squares away in any direction, ie knights move and 2 away diagonals.
The shaded cells show where the centre cell prevents a 9 from being placed, but are otherwise entirely cosmetic.

Idea credit to Jaden Lee from the Oxford Cherwell newspaper, this version by me.

I hope you all enjoy, I'd love it if you shared your times in the comments!

Very tough break, had to bifurcate after 30 minutes of nothing. After that, it solves trivially

yeah nice idea, but I really hate "decoration only" colouring

I usually resort to colours to keep track of options and that pointless red ring really screws that off for no other reason than having a reason to use a puzzle title that's also "meh" (one of the most overrated songs ever)
I get it, don't place similar digit in fiery ring sure, still "meh".

Anyways, very easy puzzle to convey the mechanic, well done!
And if you add a second link to an "uncoloured version" in upcoming installments I'm happy to play.

I REALLY liked the break in on this puzzle, and honestly I think I got a bit lucky to catch it as quick as I did. Everything comes together quickly once you get a little momentum and has such a fun flow to it. Great job!
