Normal sudoku rules apply within the central 9x9 grid.
Thermometer: Values along a thermometer must strictly increase from the bulb end. Thermometer cells outside of the grid may have a value larger than 9.
X-Sum: Values outside of the grid indicate the sum of the first X cells seen in the grid from that direction, where X is the value of the first cell seen.
No X-sum value may be used more than once. For clarity, a non-thermometer cell outside of the grid has no value.

The rule specifying no conflicting x-sum values sparked my curiousity, and this puzzle certainly delivered! Nicely done!

Brilliant! I did not read the rule about unique X-sum values for 1.5 hours, which made the puzzle unsolvable obiously. I am very good at not reading all the rules, my fault. I think the solution code should read column "11", although there was no confusion there. Thanks a lot

Only managed this with significant help from the solve path solution, magnificently intricate and hidden logic at every step. Definitely a 5* in my book
