Fortress Fillomino - Self-Referential Arrows (9x9)
(Published on 24. April 2026, 16:45 by ThePedallingPianist)
When
blackjackfitz told me that puzzles like
this one (which is great, by the way) were made to explore rulesets that are geared more towards
somedoku than
sudoku, obviously I had to try it with my own puzzle genre baby! Many thanks to him not only for inspiring the rules, but for testing and giving feedback on today's puzzle.

FORTRESS FILLOMINO:
• Divide the grid into orthogonally connected regions and fill each cell with a number (not necessarily single-digit) showing the number of cells in the region to which it belongs;
• Each region must be either strictly larger than all of its orthogonal neighbours or strictly smaller than all of its orthogonal neighbours.
SELF-REFERENTIAL ARROWS:
• The number in a cell with an arrow shows how many steps in the indicated direction until that number sees itself for the first time;
• E.g. if R1C2 was a 2 then R1C4 must be a 2 and R1C3 must not be a 2.
Solution code: Row 5 (middle), left to right
