Even Smaller Territories

(Published on 8. April 2026, 09:26 by masetab)

This is the ninth installment in my "Territories" puzzle series.

Play the sudoku here:

Sudoku Pad

I also created a 5x5 grid version which you can complete if the 9x9 is too daunting or as a warmup (estimated 1-2 for difficulty; I know my last warmup puzzle was actually quite difficult but this one is genuinely more approachable).

Warm-Up Puzzle (5x5 Grid)

Rules:

Sudoku rules apply: Fill the grid with digits 1–9, so that each digit appears exactly once in every row and column.

All cells except those in cages must be grouped into regions consisting of orthogonally connected cells. Each region contains exactly one circle. The number inside the circle gives the size of its region. No digit may repeat within a region.

In addition, the smallest digit in a region indicates the number of EVEN digits within that region. Allowed examples: {2,4} {3,4,6,8}, {1,2,5,7,9,}.

Dots Between Cells:
White dot: The two digits are consecutive.
Black dot: One digit is double the other.
Blue dot: The two digits belong to different regions.
Not all possible dots are necessarily given.

Digits in cages sum to the total shown in the top-left of the cage.

Wonderful puzzle! A delight to struggle with, especially after not doing sudoku for the last couple weeks. Thank you!

Beautiful puzzle! The basic logic is not that hard to understand this time, but mistakes are easily made. Careful thinking makes slow but steady progress. Thanks
