(Published on 7. April 2026, 21:16 by kingoffries)

Place the digits 1-9 in every row, column, and orthogonally connected region, to be determined by the user.

The four following rules apply:

1. Each region is a 3x3 box.

2. White dots between cells represent consecutive numbers, black dots a 2:1 ratio. In each case, neither cell shares a region.

3. V's sum to 5, and X's to 10. In each case, both cells share a region.

4. At least two of these four rules are always lying, including this one. (For example, if rule three is lying, cells do not sum to five, and must not share a region.)

Hint 1: Can rule 4 and any other rule both be true?

Hint 2: What happens to the regions if rule 2 is false?

Hint 3: What happens to the regions if rule 2 is true and rule 3 is false?

This isn't a 3 star. Took me just over 10 minutes, including figuring out the trick with the rules. I would say this is a 2 star because of the trick. And without the trick, it is a 1 star.
