Odd Looking

(Published on 1. April 2026, 19:20 by ChinStrap)

Set this to try and incorporate path rules that are less used in hybrids. Thanks to gdc with help with brainstorming, rules wording and styling, and thanks to all the testers! I hope you enjoy.

Rules
  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Path:

    • Draw a path along cell edges starting at the red circle in the upper left corner of the grid and ending at the red circle in the upper right corner of the grid. The path may not cross itself or overlap at a corner.
    • For each edge that is part of the path, the 1 or 2 cells touching that edge sum to an odd total.
  • Myopia Vision:

    • On an arrow cell, the distance to the nearest path edge is the same in all indicated directions, and is closer in these directions than in non-indicated directions. The digit on an arrow cell indicates the total number of cells seen, including itself, up to the path in the arrow directions.
    • For example, if a cell has two arrows and a 3 as its digit, each arrow sees a path piece 1 cell away (making 3 cells total including the arrow cell), and in the non-arrow directions any path piece must be at least 2 cells away.

Very nice and satisfying. I would put it at 3 stars IMO :)

Really enjoyed this one. I'd never done a loop puzzle quite like this one before, that being said I never felt stuck. I learned a lot and had a great time along the way.

Lovely puzzle! Super smooth, and much easier than 4* IMO, but it also felt very original and fresh.

That‘s an interesting and rather tricky path finding variant with the puzzle type flipping towards the end of the break-in. Thanks for sharing.
