Vivid XV

(Published yesterday, 01:25 by Plok)

Thanks for all the kind feedback so far. This is a bit more difficult one. Not sure if it is a 1 or 2 star puzzle. For now set it to 2 stars.

Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Cells separated by V sum to 5. Cells separated by X sum to 10.
Cells separated by a white dot are consecutive.

I enjoy the feedback, specially if it helps me to improve further.

Just on time alone, I would usually put this at 1 star, but to be fair, that was after I erased the puzzle and restarted due to somehow ending up with too many high digits in one of the boxes, so I suppose that warrants rounding up to 2 stars.

This was an odd one for me. By clock time, it’s a 2+, but it never felt unapproachable. Usually something that takes me over an hour would cause me to lose interest, but because it never felt out of reach, and it never felt tedious, I kept plugging away (admittedly at a relaxed pace).

In short, I really enjoyed it, thanks.

Thank you. I really appreciate what you wrote, as it is a perfect description on how I designed this puzzle. Slow flow with not too difficult logic.

Surprisingly complex, considering how many kropki/XVs there are.

Yeah, this is the kind of 2* that people on this site rate 1*

I don't know what I liked more, the puzzle or the short solution code. Well done!

Interesting deductions to be made (without having the negative xv constraint). Fun puzzle. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the kind words. Deliberately tried to stay away from the negative constraint, which led to interesting new logic (for me :-) ).
