My today's puzzle is a traditional XV pairs sudoku with a small twist.

Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Cells connected by an X must sum to 10. Cells connected by a V must sum to 5.
  • In every pair of cells connected by an X or a V, one of the cells is smaller than all adjacent cells, and the other cell is greater than all adjacent cells.

In the following example, the blue 4 is smaller than all four adjacent cells, and the orange 6 is greater than all three adjacent cells:

Note: There is no negative constraint in this puzzle, i.e. cells which are not connected by an X or a V can still sum to 10 or 5. However, the min/max rule only applies if there is an X or a V.

This was very fun actually! Once you figure out the break-in it flows rather smoothly.
