Ornithologically Adjacent Ratios

(Published on 20. March 2026, 11:13 by Jrosas)

THE RULES:

Ordinary sudoku rules.

Across the white dot the two digits are consecutive.

Birds: Birds represent ratios (fractions). Digits across a bird are in a ratio (equivalent fraction) that is the same for that bird throughout the grid. It is for the solver to deduce which ratio or equivalent fraction each bird represents.

Example. A pelican might lie between pairs of digits that share a 3:4 ratio (3/4 fraction.) If so, the ornithologically related pairs across pelicans would be 3/4, 6/8, 4/3, and 8/6. This is only an example. There are no pelicans.

Not all possible birds are given.

This puzzle is for the birds... and I mean that in a good way.

This was quite fun, thanks a lot.
That went really really smooth. Found it to be a 3 star just because the logic was so smooth. Coloring each bird pair helps a lot.

The rules seem to allow for different birds sharing the same fraction. The puzzle still solves nicely with that possibility (and also with fewer birds given than in the more recent CtC edition). Thanks for sharing.
