Organized Chaos

(Published on 13. March 2026, 18:03 by balpha)

Kropki: Two digits being separated by a black dot indicates that one is double the other.

Chaos construction: Divide the grid into six orthogonally connected regions of six cells each. Put the digits 1 to 6 once each in every row, column, and region.

Circle six cells of the grid. All circled cells have the following properties:

  • They contain the digits 1 to 6 once each, and they contain them in order, i.e. the first circle in the grid (by English reading order) is a 1, etc.
  • Every region contains one circled cell, and the circled cell is the region's first cell (again, in reading order).
  • Every circled cell contains its region's width or height (e.g. if a region spans two rows and four columns, its circled digit is a 2 or 4).
  • The circled cell indexes the position of the digit 1 in the region (e.g. if the circled digit is a 5, then the 1 is in the fifth cell of the region).
  • A circled cell never sits orthogonally adjacent to a 6.
