RAT RUN 32: Veracity

(Published on 1. April 2026, 01:06 by marty_sears)

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

AIM OF EXPERIMENT: Finkz and Phinx must both reach different cupcakes by finding a path through the maze. The paths must not visit any cell more than once, share cells, or pass through any thick maze walls. No diagonal moves are possible in this maze.

• BLACKCURRANTS: If two digits are joined by a blackcurrant, one is double the other.
• REDCURRANTS: If two cells are joined by a redcurrant, one is odd and the other is even.
• GOLDENBERRIES: If two digits are joined by a goldenberry, they are non-consecutive.
• GRAPES: If two digits are joined by a grape, they have a difference of at least 5.
• MOTION SENSORS: A digit on a motion sensor indicates exactly how many cells in the (up to 9) surrounding cells are visited (by either rat.) The sensor itself is counted, if visited.

TEST CONSTRAINT: In this experiment, some clues are fake! (A fake clue breaks its rule in the list above.)

All clues that Phinx passes through are fake. All other clues are truthful (ie; those passed through by Finkz, and those unvisited by either rat.) It is to be determined which rat is which.

Solution code: Digits visited by either rat in row 9, from left to right

The "very nice" rating is not enough, I wanted an "absolutely hilarious" option :)

What a brain-twister. But I love everything about this puzzle. Thanks!

I really loved this one, one of my favorite rat run for sure!

For some reason, the hardest part for me was entering the solution code. I kept trolling myself, as if solving april fools sudokus wasn't enough :)

Charming!

Weird beautiful logic. The solution code says it all. Thanx again!

Unreal this one. Took me ages to get into it but then it clicked. One of my favorites

This was fun.

Masterpiece. Again.

Spectacular. One of the most fun sudokus I've solved this year. Thanks!

Absolutely lovely as always, this one took me way longer that it should have! I wonder if this one was originally planned for april fools day...

Marty: I made this one quite a long time ago, in summer last year. It was only once I had decided to wait until 2026 to start releasing, and I realised that April Fools Day was on a Wednesday, that I realised that I would have to save this one for today

Thank you so much for creating and sharing another funny episode that again made my (rats)day. So much fun!

Clarification request:

"Some clues are fake". Does that mean some RULES are fake (as in e.g. goldenberries aren't actually non-consecutive), or some INSTANCES of the rules are fake (as in e.g. some SPECIFIC goldenberries aren't actually non-consecutive)

I think you mean the latter, but just wanted to double-check.

Marty: yes, some instances :)

Lovely and not too hard.

So much fun! I definitely found that easier than the last couple weeks, but every discovery along the way was a delight.

Another great puzzle in this amazing series, and absolutely appropriate for an April Fools Day release :)

Ohhhh, I love the idea for this test constraint! I'm looking forward to this one. :)

Loved this one Marty! Also... rat run merch!!! If you need any further input, I would love a rat run cap!

A fun puzzle fit for April Fools :)
Somehow took me longer than both ratruns 30 and 31. Usually the wrogn puzzles are all like "there are 3 appearances of each clue, and 2 are true while 1 is false" but this one was different from the usual solving methods.

Absolutely beautiful!
A one star break-in for a change (or maybe I was lucky to look at the right thing), it got a bit trickier near the endgame, but overall it was a lot easier than recent weeks. But absolutely no less fun!
There are several times I laughed out loud. An a moment many of us have been waiting for since the beginning...

Another lovely entry, although I once again disagree with the difficulty rating, or at the very least this one took me longer than the 5* last week (although I admit I typically struggle with fake clues)

Utterly brilliant, completely hilarious!

One thing with all these different constraints across the series is that now when there is a rat run with a constraint I typically consider ”not fun” I still solve it to maintain the streak. Fakes is typically not my thing and this is far from my favorite rat run, but I still enjoyed this - thank you Marty for making me do something different.

Also, thank you and cracking the cryptic for the shop(-link). My wife sends a message that a female cut T-shirt option would be appreciated :-)

I smell a rat...

Rather easier than the last couple once I got going, but really interesting logic - it felt rather like a Fog puzzle at times, with each deduction unlocking something new.

I think this is my favorite yet.

What a lovely treat as always. I always have a rat run puzzle to look forward to on Tuesdays!

Wonderful job once again. Thanks for another fun puzzle.

LOL! And some excellent fresh logic to go with that. Thanks for sharing!
