A foggy day

(Published on 9. March 2026, 12:57 by Roseelms)

This is my second sudoku, so any advice is appreciated

There is a difference of at least 5 between digits on a german whisper line (green)

Digits in killer cages are unique, and sum to the number in the top left corner

Digits connected by an X sum to ten

Digits connected by a V sum to five

Digits connected by a black kropki dot are in a 2:1 ratio

Digits connected by a white kropki dot are consecutive

Digits on thermometers increase from bulb to tip

Digits on a renban line (purple) are consecutive, in any order

Play it here

the revealed clues were frequently obvious in their meaning, especially in the beginning, but there's nothing wrong with being approachable and easy. it flowed quite well and there were some nice deductions towards the end. i would make sure to specify whether or not fog will clear from its own cell to avoid confusion for solvers. I personally don't mind either way, since it is up to the solver to place digits that are logical.

I enjoyed the dynamic fog, and I agree with other solvers that I'd prefer correct squares to clear during the solve, not after.

Had a lot of fun with the puzzle. I take no position on standard vs dynamic fog, but I prefer the rules to specify which.

Thanks @ludvigr04 for posting what the solution code is supposed to be

I think it's better to reveal all the remaining cells when the last clue is revealed.

Nice buti prefer normal fog reveals to dynamic fog.

I like this form of fog reveal more. In the other case (correct cells light up white) it is verry easy to "solve" a puzzle, just by entering random numbers until the cell gets white.

I'm not a fan of this particular form of fog reveal. I would expect single correct cells to light up white, like with other fog puzzles.

There was a lengthy part near the middle and end, where I kept filling in cells but nothing got revealed. Until I completed the actual puzzle and it turned out they were all just white cells.

@StefanSch you could also cheat by just entering numbers and checking with the solver. The solution would be to simply not enter random numbers :D
