This puzzle is completely based on a grid I saw in
ICE NINE
by Juggler.
While I was working on
UNIQUE DIGITS
I realized this should work so I had to try it out. I'm not claiming originality but the result still felt interesting enough to share.
Hello.
Chaos construction rules apply.
Divide the grid into 9 orthogonally connected regions and place the digits 1-9 each in every row, column and region.
The digit in the bulb of the arrow indicates how many unique digits there are on the arrow including the bulb.
Each digit on the arrow including the bulb belongs to a different region and indicates how many cells it sees of its own region down the column including itself.
Have fun.
Solution code: Row 9

Clarified rules.

A hair under 10 minutes, realized the rules did indeed mean each digit on the arrow counts itself when counting the cells of its region that it sees in its column, and it flowed instantly from there. About 8 minutes of reasoning, and 60 seconds of filling in numbers hehe. Really enjoyed this one.

When the rules state "each digit on the arrow... indicates how many cells it sees of its own region down the column" does that include itself?

Right, fair question that should have been stated in the rules. Yes, including itself. Grts Jonesy
