Measuring in the Fog

(Published on 27. March 2026, 00:00 by FIT7Y)

Rules:

Place the digits 1-9 once each into every row, column, and box.

The grid is covered in fog. Correctly placed digits will clear fog from the surrounding cells. No guessing is required.

Digits along a thermometer must increase from the bulb to the tip. Thermometers move orthogonally through the grid, and do not branch, overlap, or intersect.

One of the digits on every thermometer must be the length of that thermometer.

Brilliant! Some really tough bits - but that made cracking it all the sweeter! Great stuff.

01:58:32 for me -Thank you for setting this. I was the same as nunc and kind of had to make a guess at r4c8.

Not sure of the reason for the lower rating. This was fantastic. Much more difficult than most puzzles I do, but consistently excellent all the way through. I especially enjoyed toward the end when things started falling apart and then there was yet another thermo to measure that kept me solving a little bit longer. Clever!

Beautiful puzzle with some really tricky steps. If that is the reason for the low rating, then that is just silly. I think it is great, thanks!
