P(ol)arity [by FastSandals]

(Published on 6. March 2026, 19:55 by timotab)

This puzzle was created by my 12-year-old son, who goes by FastSandals. If you solve it, I know he would love to hear what you think!
  • Normal Sudoku rules apply: Place the digits 1 to 9 once each in every row, column, and box.
  • All lines are both Whisper-5 lines and Parity lines.
  • Whisper-5: Adjacent digits on a line must have a difference of at least 5.
  • Parity: Where two digits are adjacent on a line, one will be even and one will be odd.
  • A > symbol between two cells points to the smaller digit.

This puzzle is so well crafted: you need a proper notation system and the ideas behind it are deep and brilliant. Very well done, FastSandals!

Great puzzle! It took me a while to find the right way to color, but after that the puzzle was really smooth. A very clever puzzle, especially for a 12 year old. Take a bow and thank you!

This was a really interesting combination of constraints, and each line made its contribution to the solve path nicely. The final disambiguation was also really cool!

Excellent puzzle. Requires and rewards careful thought. The interaction between the clues (including those deceptive short lines) is interesting, and I am sure the combination will be used again. I haven't seen a disambiguation mechanism quite like this before.
