Super Sudokoid: Final Transmission

(Published on 3. March 2026, 00:00 by The M)

Having barely escaped a space-pirate ambush, your damaged ship all but crash lands on unexplored planet Sudoku-45. With all your equipment scattered after the violent entry, and the ship’s navigation system refusing to work, you have nothing but instinct and puzzle solving skills to get you back home.

When playing this in SudokuPad, consider turning ON the following settings for a better experience:

  • Draw Arrows Above Lines
  • Disable Emoji Replacement
  • Test Large Puzzle UI

This puzzle was heavily inspired by Skeptical Mario's fantastic puzzle "Sudokuvania: digits of despair". Consider checking it out if you haven't. However, this puzzle should be significantly easier for the most part.

Instructions
This is a dynamic, expanding puzzle, consisting of multiple, partially overlapping Sudoku grids. Selecting a cell will update the puzzle description with the rules of that sector.

Most of the grid is covered in fog. By correctly placing digits, the fog may be lifted. You may place digits in the fog if you know what they are, but otherwise avoid clicking on covered cells to not get spoiled by undiscovered areas or rules.

Each sector is a complete Sudoku of its own. Areas may overlap, in which case the overlapping parts belong to both sectors, but digits entirely within one sector does not affect digits within other sectors (meaning digits can share a row or column as long as they belong to different puzzles).

In the top-right corner is a list of learnt rules. You may only use a clue if you have unlocked it in this list, even if you think you know how it works! You can click on any of the displayed rules to get a more detailed description and some basic hints on how to apply it.

Most sectors have a boss. When you discover the boss cell (indicated by an angry emoji), use the link in the sector's description to play the boss puzzle.

Solve in SudokuPad here! (desktop version is highly recommended!)

Current version: 1.1.1

Old versions:

1.0.6
1.0.5
1.0.4

Thanks for the feedback guys!

@kristinamay -- That's unfortunate. I don't have access to a Mac so I can't test that easily. I hope you got it to work in the end.

@DaVici -- Are you sure you solved it correctly? I tried redoing it and it seemed to work just fine for me. I also just verified with a solver that there's only a single solution, so that sounds weird. Either you've missed something or something hasn't rendered properly would be my guess here.

@breitfuss -- That's fair. The final puzzle is cool, but it's too long and you get too little confirmation along the way that you haven't missed anything. It's a lesson learnt for me, same with general readability. As for X5, yeah that one's unfortunate. The latest version has an indication to help you feel more comfortable in making that assumption but I was unable to fully resolve it since it would require remaking the puzzle (which I just don't want to do) ;)

FYI that turning on "Disable Emoji Replacement" for me made the boss emojis disappear completely - I was really stuck at a certain point so I looked up a youtube video and saw that there was a boss emoji in a square I'd removed fog from! I'm not sure why that is - I'm using Firefox on a Mac, if that helps for debugging.

Fantastic entry in this emerging genre! Too many creative ideas to list here! I was especially fond of the mechanic introduced in Sector 9, and the mechanic of Sector 12 was truly festive.

X6 had a few bugs (in version 1.1.1), but that is truly the only negative in the whole experience. (The fog didn't clear in the Quest Progression UI on puzzle clear, and on entering the entrance digit, no fog cleared for the puzzle rendering it impossible. I checked an older version (1.1.0) and in that version fog cleared in the complete puzzle on entering the entrance digit. Also, as far as I can see, a second solution is possible for that puzzle.)

That's strange, Jewel. I can't seem to find anything wrong. Just to make certain, you drew it to the cell in the starting area (the ship)? And the three digits you tried to enter were the planet cell and two digits from the ship grid, starting with the planet cell?

on 29. May 2026, 13:53 by Jewel
I evacuated and escaped with the correct line as far as I can tell, error checks says I have nothing wrong numberwise either, but the solution code isn't accepted no matter what combination I possibly try.. someone else had a similar issue in the comments but nobody answered; I don't understand :(

Nothing major. There was a clue explanation that ended up reverted to an earlier version in 1.1.0 that was fixed, and the name pf each sector was added to the sectors as a header.

on 14. May 2026, 15:24 by leosu
just finished 1.1.0 really fun puzzle! Is there any changes in 1.1.1? just curious.

on 12. May 2026, 18:19 by The M
There we go, v1.1.1! This version also adds the names of each sector to the grids themselves, which might help you remember which are is which.

on 12. May 2026, 13:46 by The M
Hm, that's disappointing. It's been a while since I touched the puzzle and I assumed I was editing the latest version. I'll look into it. Expect a 1.1.1 later today.

To celebrate the release of the sequel puzzle, I went ahead and updated this puzzle to 1.1.0, which includes duplicate digit detection for rows, columns and boxes.

For the sequel I had to set up almost 500 constraints manually over two hours. This time I could thankfully automate it a bit since the regions are mostly regular.

That’s a nice prequel to Sudokuvania, or at least entry point, being a lot easier and shorter.
Glad we see another of this adventure genre!

Just saying, I was surprised to obtain a Gravity Suit while navigating the Jet Streams in the Reservoir XD

This was obviously a massive undertaking, and much of the logic in the main grid was fantastic. There were some really clever moments, and implementation of the rules in the main grid was great.

However, there were too many frustrating elements for me to fully enjoy this. These include the number of rules assumptions required to solve the puzzles, the underwhelming boss grids (most of which felt trivial, especially the last 4-5), and portions of the grid left unsolved (due to too many rules questions). The evac line in particular was deeply unsatisfying to me, given how much trial and error was required to learn the restrictions.

on 11. April 2026, 15:27 by stranac
For the most part this was a fun experience. I enjoyed the theming of the story and items.
The bosses felt significantly easier than regular puzzles which I didn't like, but I guess you can consider them tutorials for the different constraints so I'm ok with that.

I'm not a huge fan of having to guess the rules sometimes, and I feel like wording could be improved in a few places to make things clearer. Examples of issues I ran into are figuring out how the evac line is allowed to move, or how bishop/queen vision works for diagonals.

on 10. April 2026, 14:11 by jennyaa
Please add hidden cages for rows/columns/boxes. It was incredibly frustrating to solve so many puzzles without SPad highlighting bad candidates in red.

Good catch, MrOrangeBear04. The link is actually correct, but I forgot to change the version number. The puzzle has been updated so the circle cell gets revealed once you've placed some digits, which removes the ambiguity about the arrow.

I've updated the puzzle to 1.0.6 which adds a little more clarity to the final rule, and has the correct version number.

on 27. March 2026, 20:27 by MrOrangeBear04
Hey so I'd just like you know that I think you might have just reuploaded another copy of 1.0.4 instead of uploading 1.0.5

I think this because the bottom left still says 1.0.4 and I couldn't see anything different about sector 4 even though you mentioned changing it

That's a super crazy puzzle. It takes me more than 12 hours to finish it.I enjoy the time to solve it.But some bosses are relatively easier to deal with, you can make them more difficult. By the way, I'm really looking forward to the sequel.

I do not suggest solving this on phone. Amazing puzzle though!!

on 12. March 2026, 09:17 by Nurator
This was absolutely incredible. No puzzle was too hard, so I was engaged throughout the complete run. Also, the story was quite good, so I was just as curious about the puzzle as I was about how the events unfolded. The thematic boss fights were top notch, really loved this!!!

Got to the ending in ~940min and I truly feel like this puzzle deserves to be reworked as a small standalone game (rather than playing on a huge website page lacking proper visual hints to some rules). Just wonder if any developers would accept the collaboration...

on 10. March 2026, 18:50 by The M
v1.0.5 is out, containing grammar fixes, a moved rule description region that had gone rogue, and and extra disambiguation of a part in sector 4 that raaaaa discovered.

on 10. March 2026, 18:30 by MuShin
A wonderful puzzle! I took 980 minutes on SudokuPad to complete it. Compared to Sudokuvania: digits of despair, its storyline is more coherent, better integrated with the puzzle clues, and adds more fun elements (such as entering/exploring areas, unlocking subsequent areas by unlocking previous ones, etc.). At the same time, the difficulty level was also lowered, but some of the boss encounters seemed too easy.

A small issue is the targeting arrows in the last area. One of them has its end being blocked by the beginning of another arrow, which really confused me.

on 10. March 2026, 14:16 by The M
Wow, good catch, raaaaa! I never thought of that option. Expect a v1.0.5 to improve on that soon.

on 8. March 2026, 13:58 by The M
Thanks, SeesawEffect! Once again, neither I nor the solvers I put the puzzle into managed to resolve the final step without being given the boss digit so I can't replicate what you did. I'll put it in the "mistake or cool sequence break" category :)

I found that I was able to solve the boss cell in Sector 12 (discotheque) by doing sudoku. I do not believe I made any mistakes or used extreme techniques to do so.

Edit: I reviewed what I did and see that I made an error, carry on.

on 7. March 2026, 18:03 by StaticTimeHead
Great puzzle. This was my first time using "Test Large puzzle UI" in SudokuPad, I spent the entire solve scrolling to zoom in and out to move the screen to where I want, it wasn't until after I had solved the puzzle that I realised that you could drag the puzzle with the left mouse click. Might be useful to mention it in the rules.

on 7. March 2026, 13:24 by The M
That's impressive, LehanLehan! Are you sure you didn't accidentally use a clue you hadn't unlocked the rule for yet? I just can't see how to do it otherwise, and the solvers I've tried also fail.

I might just leave it in if it's difficult enough to find (sequence breaking fits the theme after all), though I really liked that particular boss puzzle so I also don't want people skipping it. :D

on 7. March 2026, 12:50 by LehanLehan
In the Dungeon Icould put the digit on the boss cell just by sudoku without solving the boss puzzle.

on 7. March 2026, 12:13 by The M
I've updated the puzzle to v1.0.4 with fixes for aturtledoesbite's findings (big thanks for pointing them out!). They're only cosmetic, so you can keep playing on 1.0.3 if you don't want to upgrade.

I have also been made aware that one of the hidden puzzles requires an assumption to find. I've left it in for now, as I haven't figured out what to do about it.

on 6. March 2026, 05:43 by aturtledoesbite
Ah, that's what I was missing; thank you!

on 6. March 2026, 04:33 by Incompleteusern
For inputting your answer (ROT13): Vapyhqr gur qvtvg jvgu gur cynarg nf jryy.

on 6. March 2026, 04:03 by aturtledoesbite
Hi! I'm not sure I understand the solution code request. Which end of the evac line is it asking for? I tried both and neither was accepted...

on 6. March 2026, 01:35 by The M
There is a way to resolve the deadly pattern if you keep exploring the map.

As for the Reservoir, you need to do a little bit of Sudoku to progress. There's a digit you can place out in the fog that will reveal more (don't overthink this one, it's simple).

on 5. March 2026, 17:05 by The M
The boss links are intentionally part of the sector descriptions. I could have revealed them when you click on the boss cell but I was afraid people would miss them or forget about the boss rules if I didn't show the link earlier. Obviously, don't try solve the boss puzzle in advance ;)

The boss battle links are appearing as soon as I place a digit in the sector, LONG before I've uncovered the boss cell. Is this the intended behaviour?

Took me 7.5 hours for my solve, done regrettably all in one session. Truly an amazing puzz, but I def should've taken more than one day to play all of it lol.
Almost all the boss puzzles were truly fantastic, I especially loved the Queens and Bishops boss.
