Been a minute since I created a puzzle. Here's a 4th edition to my Extra region chaos construction. Hope you enjoy!
Puzzle: Between Two Ferns
Rules:
Normal 9x9 Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1-9 in each row, column and 3x3 box.
Between Lines: Digits along a line connected by two bulbs must be strictly between the two digits in the bulbs. Digits can repeat along a line if allowed by other rules.
Extra-region construction: There are nine, 9-cell, non-overlapping orthogonally connected extra regions in the grid that each contain the digits 1-9. Extra regions must be also be orthogonally connected within a 3x3 box. Digits in a bulb indicate how many cells in that 3x3 box are part of the region that it occupies. Bulbs may or may not share the same extra region, but the line connecting them must never contain cells of the same extra region as either of the connected bulbs.

Can you clarify what this means?
"Extra regions must be also be orthogonally connected within a 3x3 box."
I'm not sure what this adds beyond the cells already being orthogonally connected. Thanks!

If an extra region only entered R4c4 and R4C6 then it would not be orthogonally connected within box 5.

Super cool CC! Solved it with one of my kids and we had a great time. Just took longer than expected with the endgame because I overlooked an implication of the ruleset for one important step. Thanks :)
