In Example 1, a 3x3 box with a Game of Life pattern is shown (green for active cells, grey for inactive cells). But the cells marked with a ! are unstable : they either are inactive but with 3 active neighbors, or active but with less than 2 or more than 3 active neighbors. Therefore this pattern is not a Still Life pattern, and can not appear in a Still Life Sudoku puzzle.
In Example 2 (using the digits of a normal 9x9 sudoku grid), a 3x3 box is shown filled with digits and clues (circles and squares), the Game of Life pattern that is shown is stable, and all the clues are fulfilled. This could appear in a Still Life Sudoku puzzle. fog of war FOW
Here is a dynamic link to all the other Still Life puzzles
Solution code: The digits in the 'active' cells of row 5 (left to right), followed by those in the active cells of column 4 (top to bottom)

Brilliant puzzle. Game of life vibes. Great setting thx.

That is indeed based on the Game of Life! I usually mention it in the description, but here I don't know, probably I forgot or made an unconscious decision since I had so much text up there already.
The ruleset itself has been created by Sktx, and others have also came with their own takes on the GoL, notably SSG and Qodec -- I recommend all of their puzzles, although they tend to be quite hard! You can find these other puzzles and more through the link just above the comment section.
Anyway, glad to hear you enjoyed this one here -- many thanks for the feedback and kind words! :D

Thank you so much the feedback and kind words, happy to hear you had fun with the puzzle, and yep, that 'Dynamic Fog of War' is a game-changing tool and is a blast to use. That one sure has been fun to set, and I'm happy that it translated to a fun solve as well! :D

Last solo one!? It’s been a lot of fun! Hopefully the next chapter is as rewarding ☺️ It’s been a pleasure to solve (nearly) all your puzzles - think I’ve got a few left to tackle! Thanks for all the effort and generosity in making and sharing them - this was a classy finish!

Ah, thanks a lot Chris! LIkewise, it's been a pleasure having you as a tester for a large part of it, as it was seeing you make your way through the catalog, and I'll be ooking forward to see which you'll tackle next, although I also recommend checking all the new Doppelgangers from other setters now, that you can easily find by looking at the dynamic link I share on my 'Bob Ross' one and a couple others.
Glad too that you enjoyed this one, and thanks for the kind words!

Ah, thank you for playing this one as well, and for the feedback and kind words -- glad you enjoyed!
It's only the end of one part of this ride for me, as like I said, I'm currently involved in a number of collabs and there will likely be more that follow, but I really appreciate it all the same! :D
