It's alright, a little clever.
I usually see the term "latin square" used for puzzles where there aren't any boxes/regions.

Maybe call me close-minded but what's the idea behind publishing these kind of puzzles apart from absolutely trying to get the worst score ever?
A 59% rating seems to contradict your perception of what is liked by beginners and by more experienced solvers in search of a snack. When looking for nice and instructional sudoku variants, I can recommend you Richard’s SVS series.

Must of the puzzles like this are made for me to teach people who are new to the concept of the sudoku variants. They are just simple puzzles with an easy logic path to help people understand the rules.
And some people who have been solving for a while tell me that they are enjoyable little snacks, so I don't really get your point.

@tjmas
Normal NxN rules means place the digits 1-N in every row and column (and region, if present).

Maybe im just not familiar with "normal 3x3 rules" but perhaps it would be helpful to specify that only numbers 1-3 are used. I was briefly very confused trying to find a unique solution for 1-9
