Sudoku:
- Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Steps Up:
- A cell is a step up when viewed from a particular direction if and only if it is larger than the cell directly before it when seen from that direction.
- The first cell in a direction can never be a step up, as there is no cell before it.
Step-up Sums:
- Clues outside the grid give the sums of groups of steps up seen from the clue's position, in order, where groups are separated by any other cells.
- For example, the row 237459861, if clued from the left, would see -37-59---, and so its clues would be 10 14 in that order on the left. If clued from the right, it would see --7--986-, and so its clues would be 7 21 in that order on the right.
- A question mark ? indicates any digit from 0 to 9, but no clue may have a leading zero.
- A plus sign + denotes exactly one step-up sum clue, which could have any number of digits.
- An asterisk * denotes any number of step-up sum clues, which may be zero, one or more.
- For each possible viewpoint, either the whole row is clued or nothing is.
