Buy Or Rent?

(Published yesterday, 21:03 by ChinStrap)

The same clues, on a squishdoku, but the clues work as either numbered rooms or skyscraper clues. Thanks to all the testers!

Rules For Both
  • Squishdoku:

    • Place the digits 1 through 9 once each in every 3x3 box, without repeats in any row or column. Cells on region borders (dashed lines) are shared between multiple boxes.
  • XV:

    • The V separates digits summing to 5. The X separates digits summing to 10.
Numbered Rooms version

  • Numbered Rooms:

    • Outside digits must be placed in Nth position looking into the grid in the row/column, where N is the digit in the first position.
Skyscraper Version

  • Skyscrapers:

    • Clues outside the grid represent how many digits are 'seen' by the clue looking into its row/column. Digits are visible when they are larger than all digits before them.

All feedback (positive or critical) appreciated!

Solution code: Box 1 for the numbered rooms version in reading order, then box 1 for skyscraper version in reading order (18 digits total)

Fun duality puzzle! For me the skyscraper one is 2.5 stars and the numbered room one is 3 stars so average of 3 stars difficulty. Can't wait for the X-sum version =D

Very nice! The Skyscraper was a bit tricky though. Thanks!

Huh, what a cool set of clues! Numbered Rooms version is so much easier than Skyscraper, at least for me. I'll have to leave the pair only half-finished for now...

Very fun pair of puzzles!
Amazing that the same grid works for both numbered rooms and skyscrapers.
