Counting Territories

(Published on 17. January 2026, 14:33 by masetab)

This is the fifth installment in my "Territories" puzzle series. I really appreciate the support on this series thus far. Hope you enjoy!

Play the sudoku here:

Rules:

Sudoku: Fill the grid with digits 1–9 so that each digit appears exactly once in every row and column.

Regions: Create regions of orthogonally connected cells. Each region contains exactly one circle, and every circle belongs to a region. The digit in a circle gives the size of its region. Digits may not repeat within a region. Orthogonally adjacent cells within the SAME region may not be consecutive. Not all cells in the grid must belong to a region.

Counting Circles: A digit in a circle indicates how many times that digit appears in all circles in the grid.

A black dot between two cells means one digit is double the other. An X between two cells means the digits sum to 10. The two digits connected by the pink renban line are consecutive. An arrow outside the grid gives the sum of the digits along the indicated diagonal.

As has been said, break-in was the challenge, afterwards everything flowed nicely. I would give the break-in a 4* but the rest 2* difficulty

Tricky break-in and after that everything else flowed very nicely, well put-together!

I would rate it 4 stars, liked it a lot.

I found the break-in to be very profound. I really enjoyed the interplay of the logic throughout the solve.
