Pairrow Nuri-Maze

(Published on 12. January 2026, 15:43 by mellowrobinson)

  • Nuri-Maze:
  • Shade some cells so that no 2x2 is entirely shaded or entirely unshaded.
  • All unshaded cells are orthogonally connected, and form the pathways of a maze, where shaded cells are the walls. The maze may have branches and dead ends, but it never loops.
  • There is exactly one orthogonal path of unshaded cells from S to G that passes through every circle, and doesn't backtrack. Triangles are unshaded but not on the path.
  • Cell Values:
  • A shaded cell has a value equal to the number of cells in its shaded group.
  • An unshaded cell has a value equal to the number of unshaded cells seen in all four directions, including itself, where shaded cells block vision.
  • Pairrows:
  • A value V in a cell with arrows targets two cells V steps away in the indicated direction.
  • If the arrow cell is shaded, the two target cells' values have a difference of 1.
  • If the arrow cell is unshaded, the two target cells' values have a difference of 5 or more.

This puzzle is for Scojo's weekly setting prompt, in which aqjhs asked for pairrow puzzles.
And here is a bonus puzzle, this easy 8x8 Nuri-Maze.

Solution code: The number of unshaded cells in each of the bottom five rows, separated by dashes. The example puzzle code would be 6-3-3-1-4
