Underling

(Published on 9. January 2026, 22:57 by jwsinclair)

Underling, by James Sinclair

Normal sudoku rules apply, and all clues are standard.
Cages: digits cannot repeat within a cage.
Arrows: the sum of the digits along an arrow is equal to the digit in the connected circle, and these digits can repeat if allowed by other rules.
German whispers: along the green line, digits differ from their neighbors by at least 5.
Digits in cells with a shaded circle are odd.
Digits in cells separated by a white dot are consecutive.

Oh man, what a puzzle. I felt completely stuck over and over, but then each time one tiny insight or question would chip away at it until it was clear...

Very very nice ????

What this puzzle did to me might violate the Geneva Conventions. Beautiful, beautiful construction.

Very very nice. Lots of tricky little (or not so little) deductions that slowly lets the picture emerge. Thanks!

great puzzle, so many wonderful deductions that are obvious in retrospect but require thinking about the puzzle in particular ways and asking the right questions, absolutely loved it
