Yin-Yang Territories

(Published on 3. January 2026, 13:01 by masetab)

This is the fourth installment in my "Territories" puzzle series. I really appreciate the support on this series thus far.

Creating this puzzle involved a few different iterations and rule changes before I landed on something I was happy with. Hope you enjoy!

Sudoku Pad

Rules:

Sudoku rules apply: Fill the grid with digits 1–9, so that each digit appears exactly once in every row and column.

Yin-Yang: Shade some cells such that both the shaded and the unshaded cells are orthogonally connected and no 2×2 square is either fully shaded or entirely unshaded. Some shaded cells are given in grey.

Divide the grid into regions consisting of orthogonally connected cells such that every cell belongs to a region. Each region contains exactly one circled cell and the number inside the circle gives the size of its region. No digit may repeat within a region.

Each region must consist of entirely shaded or unshaded cells. All shaded regions have the same digit sum; this common sum is not given and must be deduced.

A blue dot between two cells indicates they belong to different regions. A white dot between two cells indicates the digits in those cells are consecutive. Not all possible dots are provided.

An arrow outside the grid gives the sum of the digits along the indicated diagonal.

Pretty hard while offering interesting logic and never being too finicky. Another great one in this series.

Exceptional puzzle, and great series. I kept messing up my break-in by coloring blue dot borders as different Yin-Yang colors, not different regions. The rest of the puzzle was tough too.

This is one of the greatest series of puzzles ever. The setting for the endgame was particularly brilliant.
