This puzzle is a remake of an earlier design of mine titled Zombie 5 Is Alive. Some of the underlying logic is intentionally carried over from the original version, but I feel this iteration is more successful overall. I hope you enjoy revisiting the ideas in this refined remake. You can find the original puzzle here: Zombie 5 Is Alive .
I rated this puzzle as average because the Middler rule can disrupt typical logical thinking; otherwise, it would be closer to an easy rating.
Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1–9 in every row, column, and 3×3 region.
Middlers. There is exactly one Middler cell in every row, column, and box. No digit repeats among the Middler cells. The value of a Middler cell is always 5, regardless of the digit placed in it. The value of all other cells is the digit in the cell.
German Whispers. (green lines) Neighbouring/adjacent values along a green line differ by at least 5.
X clues. Cells connected by an X have values that sum to 10.
V clues. Cells connected by a V have values that sum to 5.
White Kropki dots. Cells separated by a white dot contain consecutive values.
Palindrome. (grey lines) The sequence of values along each marked grey line reads the same forwards and backwards.
Solution code: 9th column read top to bottom.
