Squindex

(Published on 28. December 2025, 18:07 by Nell Gwyn)

  • Squishdoku: Place the digits 1 to 9 once each in every box (cells on dotted lines are shared by multiple boxes) such that no digit repeats in a row or column.
  • Dutch Flatmates: Every 5 in the grid must have either a 1 directly above it, a 9 directly below it, or both.
  • Column Indexers: Red cells in columns 1 and 5 give the position of the 1 and the 5 (respectively) in their indicated rows (e.g. if row 2, column 1 is a 3, then row 2, column 3 is a 1, and if row 3, column 5 is a 6, then row 3, column 6 is a 5).
  • Sandwich: The highest and lowest digits in a row form the crusts of a sandwich. Clues outside the grid give the sum of the digits sandwiched between those crusts (clues are given as inequalities, "<" means "less than").

This puzzle is surprisingly approachable for me, considering it involves squishdoku, flatmates, and indexing, all off which i have very little experience with (especially flatmates). 3 stars for me.
