Boxing Day sudoku

(Published on 26. December 2025, 00:00 by Nylimb)

Boxing Day (26/12) isn't a holiday in my part of the world, but that's no reason not to use it for a puzzle. The idea didn't occur to me until Boxing Day Eve (a.k.a. Christmas), so I had to hurry. But I'm pleased with the result, which I think is easier than most of my puzzles.

Standard sudoku rules apply: Fill the grid with digits from 1 to 9 so that each digit occurs exactly once in each row, column, and 3x3 box.

Standard killer rules apply: In each cage outlined by dotted lines, the sum of the digits equals the number in the upper left corner of the cage. Most of the cage totals are expressed in terms of 3 unequal numbers, D, A, and Y, to be deduced by the solver. (The dot between D and A in 2 places is a multiplication sign. In SudokuPad it's been replaced by an 'x'.)

You can solve this in SudokuPad.

Solution code: Row 7.
